While helping to transform the heart of Box Hill, Golden Age is set to make its mark in Glen Waverley, building residential apartments at The Glen shopping centre.

Golden Age Group will build the 539 apartments in three towers, from 12 to 20 storeys, as part of the Glen Waverley shopping centre’s $460 million redevelopment.

The Glen co-owners Vicinity Centres and Perron Group announced on April 10 that the residential air rights above the centre had been sold to the developer.

Golden Age Group managing director Jeff Xu said they hoped to set a new benchmark in residential living and would review the plans.

“We believe our experience and commitment to delivering exceptional community living will enable us to produce a world class project that benefits both future residents of The Glen and the broader community alike,” he said.

“Drawing on an innate understanding of the market, Golden Age Group will be reviewing existing plans for the project with a view of enhancing it where possible to better serve the community and provide an elevated living experience for residents.”

Golden Age is building some of the highest towers outside of Melbourne’s CBD with the 36-storey development of Sky One which will reach 123m.

Shoppers will be treated to 240 shops and food outlets as part of the redevelopment of The Glen.

The first stage of the overhaul, the Fresh Food Market Hall, will open by the end of the year.

Supermarket giant Aldi, with Woolworths and Coles, will anchor the hall with boutique food retailers also in the mix.
There will be the Food Gallery, plus the outdoor-indoor dining hub to be filled with restaurants and cafes across two levels, which will overlook the Town Square to be open day and night.

The development will open in three stages and by completed by early 2020.
